FO: Knee-highs!

These are the inspiration shot (from this trip), along with the final product (started here):

knee-highs

I did simple M1R and M1L increases for the calf, up until I had 80 stitches all around.  There are neat and symmetric little slants on each side, which I quite like.  I finished off with 2x2 ribbing for 18 rows.  They hit just below the knee.

I'm in love! Warm and colorful legs this fall (or whenever it gets cold enough around these parts)!

  1. @Beth: you found me! Thanks for keeping up with the bloggy swervings. Nice to see you on the 'nets again. Thank you for the compliment!

  2. I LOVE LOVE LOVE those socks! They look fabulous! Did you start with 64 stitches on size 2 needles? How much yarn did you use?

I have a new pair of boots and have been thinking about knitting some tall socks to wear with them. But I am feeling a little intimidated by the thought of all that knitting on tiny needles, so I welcome any encouragement you can offer!

  3. Glad you like them! I knit these toe-up, so began with a figure-eight cast on over 10 sts, increasing to 60 sts, which is perfect for my Size 7 feets. Please see my first post for more details about the toe shaping. I always use US1 dpns. I haven't weighed the leftovers, but hope there's enough for a pair of rainbow (no stripe) fingerless mitts.

You can totally knit these! Stockinette = auto pilot commuter knitting. Yet the toe, heel, and calf shaping add interest at just the right points. Can't wait to see your pair!

  4. You know, I DO have a skein of Noro Kureyon Sock yarn lying around. I was thinking of making some regular socks with them, but maybe I will follow your lead and go with stripey knee-highs!
